DCCI for Pak investment in Bangladesh

Dhaka, May 12 (UNB) - President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Asif Ibrahim underscored for higher volume of trade between Bangladesh and Pakistan as the present bilateral trade volume remains below satisfactory level.

He invited the Pakistani investors to invest at different prospective sectors such as textile and agro-based, shipbuilding in order to avail of various opportunities provided by the government of Bangladesh.

The trade body leader placed the invitation when the Pakistan High Commissioner in Dhaka Afrasiab called on him at his office on Saturday, according to a DCCI message.

Asif Ibrahim assured of all cooperation to facilitate the business and investment from Pakistan.

The DCCI leader urged the High Commissioner to initiate steps to reintroduce Karachi-Chittagong ferry service for better trade between the two countries in the days to come.

Asif stressed on regional integration to boost the businesses so that as a whole this part of South Asia becomes a business hub in the near future.

The Pak envoy also invited the Bangladeshi investors to invest in knit, textile, pharmaceuticals and leather product sectors of his country.

He assured of all kind of support to facilitate trade and commerce between the two SAARC countries.

“Bangladesh and Pakistan, two brotherly Muslim countries, have commonalities in terms of culture, religion, food and businesses,” he said.

DCCI senior vice president Haider Ahmed Khan, directors Khairul Majid Mahmud, KMN Manjurul Hoque, Osama Taseer, M Iftekharuddin (Naushad), KG Karim, M Abu Horaira, Shahidul Islam, Hossain A Sikder, secretary Mustafa Mohiuddin and Trade Promotion Officer of Pakistan High Commission Akmal were present on the occasion.
