Lightning kills schoolgirl in Pirojpur

Pirojpur, May 12 (UNB) - A schoolgirl was killed as a streak of lightning struck her at Charani Pratyasha village in Zianagar upazila on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Poly Roy, 14, a student of class VIII of local Fakirbari Secondary School and daughter of Bidhan Roy of the village.

Locals said the thunderbolt struck Poly at about 4:30 pm at the veranda of their house, killing her on the spot.
