News - Jubo League leader killed in Gopalganj bomb attack
Gopalganj, May 13 (UNB) – A local Jubo League leader was killed in an explosion when suspected criminals hurled bombs at his house at Arpara village in Sadar upazila early Sunday.

The dead is Rezaul Karim Shahin, 42, Organizing Secretary of Jubo League of Haridaspur union unit.

Police said local criminals hurled the bombs at Shahin’s house at about 10pm on Saturday night, leaving him critically injured.

He was first taken to Gopalganj Hospital and later shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital as his conditions deteriorated. Later, he succumbed to his injuries at about 4am on Sunday.

As the news of Shahin’s death spread out, his supporters ransacked and set fire to a number of houses and vandalized vehicles in the village this (Sunday) morning.

The angry supporters blocked Gopalganj-Tekerhat road from 6am to 9am.

Police lobbed teargas shells to control the situation. At least 15 people including the  Additional Police Super were injured. Additional police have been posted in the area to avert further clash.
