15 injured in rival clash in Sunamganj

Sunamganj, May 13 (UNB) – About 15 people were injured, seven of them by bullet, in a clash between two rival groups at Syedpur village in Jagannathpur upazila on Sunday.

Police said an altercation ensued between Shaharpara UP chairman Abul Hasan Mia and his rivals--Ruman Mia and Hafiz Rezwan Mia--over forming the committee of a local mosque at noon.

Later, supporters of the rival groups attacked each other with firearms and other weapons triggering a fierce clash that left 15 people injured.

Seven people, who sustained bullet wounds in the clash,   were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
