Narayanganj, May 12 (UNB) – Over 500 named and unnamed people were sued on Sunday for clashing with police during an eviction drive in Rail Station area in the city on Saturday.

Nur Mohammad, Sub Inspector of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station filed the case with thana against 13 named and 500 unnamed people on charge of obstructing government duty, attacking Railway`s eviction team and injuring policemen during eviction of illegal occupiers from Railway lands on Saturday afternoon.

At least 30 people, including Sadar Model thana OC, were injured in a series of clashes between cops and Railway land grabbers at the city`s Sirajuddowla Road, No 2 Rail Gate and central Rail Station which lasted from more than four hours.

Police fired 40 rounds of teargas shells and 100 rubber bullets to quell the situation.

After several hours pause, demolition of illegal structures and eviction restarted at 1 pm and the team, led by Deputy Secretary of Railway Ministry Ahmedul Haque and Executive Magistrate Abdur Rouf Talukder, demolished over 100 structures erected illegally at Friends Market, Kalibazar, Sirajuddowla Road and other Railway lands.
