4 killed in lightning strike in Jamalpur

Jamalpur, May 13 (UNB) – Four people were killed and two others injured in separate lightning strikes at different areas of the district on Saturday night.

Hospital sources said Zakir, 10, son of Thandu of Nilokkhia village and Khursheda, 25, wife of Chan Mia of Majhpara village in Bakshiganj upazila were killed as thunderbolt struck them during storm at about 11 pm.

Jeleha, 30 and Rana, 15, injured in the incident, were admitted to Bakshiganj upazila health complex.

In another incident Almas, 50, a farmer of Dharmakura village in Islampur upazila and Nurul Islam, 40 of Rekhirpara in Melandah upazila were killed as lightning struck them at night.
