Dhaka, May 13 (UNB) – Members of Crime Reporters Association of
Bangladesh (CRAB) will lay a siege to Dhanmondi Police Station on May 16 (Wednesday) to press home their various demands, including immediate arrest of killer bus driver of journalist Bibhash Chandra Shaha.

Bibhash Chandra Saha, a senior reporter of English daily The Independent, was killed as a bus of ‘Maitri Paribahan’ hit his bike near Star Kabab in the city’s Dhanmondi area on Friday evening.

The CRAB announced the programme on Sunday as the government has failed to meet their demands within the 24-hour deadline set by the organisation after the death of its member Bibhash in the road crash, said a CRAB release.

The CRAB members will also bring out a mourning procession and hold a memorial meeting at Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium at 11 am on May 14.

Their other demands include exemplary punishment of the killer driver of Maitri Paribahan, realisation of compensation from the authority of the transport company and withdrawal the officer-in-charge of the Dhanmondi thana.

The CRAB members will also attend the sit-in programme in front the Home Ministry announced by journalist leaders demanding arrest of the killers of journalist couple Sagar-Runi.
