Youth killed in Beanibazar clash

Beanibazar (Sylhet), May14 (UNB) – A youth was killed and over 100 people were injured when two groups of villagers clashed over a bull fight at Deulgram village in Beanibazar upazila on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Nurul Alam, 23, a college student and son of Abdul Matin of Deaulgram village of the district.

Local source said two bull owners locked into clash during a bull fight Sunday afternoon.

As a sequel to the incident, two groups of villagers equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other at about 10pm and the clash continued for several hours that left Nurul Islam dead on the spot.

Of the injured, 10 were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

Police arrested 11 people from the spot.

Officer-in-charge of Beanibazar thana AKM Fazlul Haq Shibli said, they brought the situation under control and additional police were deployed to avoid any untoward situation.
