Dhaka, May 14 (UNB) – A land trader was shot dead by unidentified criminals in the city’s Mirpur Shah Ali Police Station area on Monday evening.

The victim was identified as Basir Uddin, 50, a resident of Nababerbagh under the police station.

Police and witnesses said three armed youths went to the under-construction building of Basir at about 6:00pm and sprayed bullets on him and left the scene hurriedly.

He was taken to a local clinic in a critical condition where doctors declared him dead.

Contacted, Assistant Commissioner (AC-Mirpur Zone) Jasim Uddin said miscreants might have killed Bsair over land or extortion dispute.

“We are investigating the matter,” he added.
