
Dhaka, May 15 (UNB) - The BNP-led 18-party alliance will observe countrywide mass hunger strike on Sunday (May 20), demanding the return of missing BNP leader M Ilias Ali unharmed.
Mustafizur Rahman Iran, chairman of Labour Party, a component of the alliance, told UNB late on Monday night that the mass hunger strike will be staged in all the district and divisional headquarters in the country.Besides, he said, a memorandum to be submitted to DCs (deputy commissioners) and UNOs across the country on May 23, demanding steps to ensure the fair prices of produces of the farmers, and countrywide demonstrations on May 27 protesting repression, forced disappearances, filing of false cases, arrest and killing of opposition activists.
Earlier, on Monday night, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia held a meeting with the top leaders of 18-party alliance at her Gulshan office.
