News - Law to determine judges’ qualifications for appointment: Minister
Dhaka, May 15 (UNB) - The government is planning to enact a law to determine the qualifications for appointing judges to the Supreme Court, Law Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed said here on Tuesday.

“We’ll take steps in this regard in consultation with the Chief Justice,” he told a meeting with Asian Development Bank (ADB) country director M Teresa Kho at his Secretariat office.

The law minister said the government is also seriously considering the appointment of Ombudsman for establishing good governance in the country.

ADB country director Teresa Kho appreciated Bangladesh’s efforts in establishing good governance and assured that the ADB would extend all-out cooperation in this regard.
