Dhaka, May 15 (UNB) - Law Minister Shafique Ahmed on Tuesday said there is no scope to restore the caretaker government system due to the Supreme Court verdict.

The non-party caretaker government system was introduced through the 13th amendment of the constitution and the Supreme Court scraped this amendment as it was contradictory to democracy, he said, addressing a discussion at Jagannath University.

“Hence, the caretaker government system was deleted from the constitution,” said Shafique, adding that there is no chance to revive it.

Jagannath University organised the discussion titled ‘Four Decades of Independence: Expectation and Achievement’ at its central auditorium.
