5 killed in road accidents in 4 dists

Dhaka, May 15 (UNB) - Five people died in road accidents in Pabna, Bogra, Jessore and Faridpur districts in the last 24 hours ending Tuesday evening.

In Faridpur: Motorcyclist Khayer Mollah, 28, was killed and co-rider injured in an accident at Kamargram village in Boalmari upazila on Tuesday evening.

Witnesses said a bus rammed their bike leaving Khayer dead on the spot and his co-rider severely injured. The victims hailed from Chandni village.

In Bogra: A Bogra town-bound truck ran over school girl Shamsunnahar, 7, leaving her dead on the spot at Aladipur village on Bogra-Joypurhat road in Shibganj upazila at 3 pm on Monday.

The victim was the daughter of Sanowar of the village and a Class I student of a local primary school.

In Pabna: Two people were killed and 20 others injured in a bus plunge at Muralipur village on Kashinathpur-Najirganj road in Sujanagar upazila at 3 pm.

Witnesses said a Najirganj-bound bus from Kashinathpur skidded and plunged into a ditch as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving bus passengers Parimal Haldar, 26, and Subhash Haldar, 25, dead on the spot. The injured were admitted to local hospital.

UNB Jessore Correspondent adds: Atiar, admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital after he was injured in a bus-truck collision at Simakhali at Chhoygharia on Jessore-Magura boundary line, succumbed to his injuries at 8 pm on Monday.

Earlier, he received severe head injuries as the Jessore-bound truck carrying him collided head-on with a bus on Jessore-Magura road at 1 pm.

Two other people died on the spot.
