Dhaka, May 16 (UNB) - Police in separate drives arrested seven members of banned Islamist outfit Hizbut Tawhid in Pirojpur, Patuakhali and Sherpur districts on Wednesday.
In Pirojpur: Acting on secret information police conducted a drive at Dak Bungalow Road in Kaukhali upazila town and arrested three Hizbut Tawhid members at 1 pm. They are Ajmal Hossain, 30, Jahirul Islam, 38 and Aslam Hossain. They were held while distributing leaflets of the banded organization.
In Patukhali: Two members of Hizbut Tawhid - Jasimuddin Talukdar, 28, and Abdul Hannan Mridha, 25, were arrested in front of the house of Shahjahan Mia, State Minister for Religious Affairs. They were distributing leaflets of their organization among local people.
Later, they were produced before court which sent them to jail.
In Sherpur: Police arrested two female members of Hizbut Tawhid when they were distributing leaflets at the premises of Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex on Wednesday morning.
The arrestees are: Sumaiya Aktar Sumi, 24, and Jharna Begum, 32.
