
Dinajpur, May 18 (UNB) - A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Daudpur border in Birampur upazila early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Saidur Rahman Chiku, 50, son of late Abdul Gafur of Poli Mahmudpur village in same upazila.
Local sources said several cattle traders, including Chiku, were going to India through the border to buy cattle there.
As they reached the border pillar No. 290/25 (A), BSF jawans of Gobindapur camp hurled some cocktails at them, leaving Chiku injured.
Being injured in the cocktail attack, he fell on the ground when the Indian border guards fired several shots, which left him dead on the spot.
Other traders managed to escape.
BSF members later took away the body to their land.
Lt. Colonel Tayeb-ul-Haque, Commander of Dinajpur-Phulbari 40 BGB Battalion, confirmed the death of Chiku by BSF.
