4 robbers held with arms in Comilla

Comilla, May 19 (UNB) – Police in a drive arrested four alleged robbers along with arms while they were preparing to commit a robbery in Chowdhury Bazar area of Chouddagram upazila on Friday night.

The arrestees were identified as Russell, 35, son of Saleh Ahmed of Jagjur village, Rafiqul Islam, 40, son of Abdur Razzaq of Sukchail village, Alam, 28, son of Abu Taher of Hatbair village and Alauddin Apu, 26, son of Kamal Uddin of the upazila.

Police said on secret information they conducted the drive in the area at dead of night and arrested them after a hot chase. Other three members of the gang, however, managed to flee the scene.

Police also recovered a foreign made pistol, two rounds of bullet, one sharp weapon and a hijacked motorbike from their possession.

Two separate cases were filed against them.
