Dhaka, May 19 (UNB) - Leader of the Opposition and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday greeted Nishat Majumder for conquering the Mount Everest as the country’s first woman.

In a message of felicitation, Khaleda, also the former Prime Minister, said she (Nishat) improved the country’s image through her adventure.

Other women of the country will be inspired to face any challenge by her success and be able to achieve such feats in the future, said Khaleda in her message.

The opposition leader also wished Nishat good health and long life.

Nishat Majumder, a 31-year-old accountant, on April 9 started an adventure from Kathmandu to the base camp of the Mount Everest to hoist Bangladeshi flag atop the highest mountain in the world.

Nishat earlier had conquered three Himalayan peaks higher than 6,000 metres.
