Bagerhat, May 19 (UNB) - Senior Vice-president of Bagerhat Inter-district Bus Owners’ Association Mina Rakibul Hasan Milon was killed and four people were injured in a road accident on Bagerhat-Khulna highway in Sadar upazila on Saturday.
Police super Khandaker Rafiqul Islam told UNB that a private car carrying four passengers, including Milon, crashed into a roadside tree at Nawapara at about 4 pm after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving all the occupants of the vehicle injured.
Milon, son of Nur Mohammad, succumbed to his injuries on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).
The injured -- Mohammad Moyen, 37, Bagha Talukdar, 55, M Habibur Rahman, 57, and car driver Chandu, 35 -- were admitted to the KMCH and other private clinics.
The accident occurred when Milon along with others was returning to Bagerhat district town from Khulna, the police super said.
General Secretary of the bus owners’ association Khan Maniruzzaman Moni, also a municipality councillor, said the body of Milon was taken to his Bagerhat district residence at Nager Bazar from Khulna at about 5:30 pm.
