Chittagong, May 19 UNB) - Rapid Acting Battalion (Rab) filed a case against five people on Saturday in connection with the largest-ever seizure of banned drug yaba in the he port city's Asadganj area.
Rab-1 Deputy Assistant Director M Jahangir Alam filed the case against Rashid Ahmed, his brother-in-law Ataul Karim, godown owner Abdul Malek Chodhury and his two employees Sabbir Ahmed and Mohammad Ismail with Kotwali Police Station.
Abul Kalam Azad, investigation officer of the case, said the case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act 1990 and Section 25 (B) of the Special Power Act 1974.
He said they would appeal to the court to take the accused into custody for questioning.
Members of Rab, in their largest-ever drugs haul, seized over 2,70,000 pieces of yaba tablets from a godwon in Asadganj area on Friday morning.
Acting on secret information, a team of Rab-1 and Rab-7 launched the drive and arrested four drug traders along with the sex stimulating tablets worth Tk 10 crore.
The tablets were kept in 17 sacks mixing with jujube.
