Khulna, May 20 (UNB) – A deed-writer was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in front of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) market near Police Super`s office in the city on Sunday night.

The dead is Khan Mohammad Jakir Hossain, 52, joint secretary of Khulna Deed Writers Association (KDWA) and son of late Johurul Haque of city`s Rayermahal.

Police and locals said unidentified miscreants numbering 4-5 shot Jakir leaving him critically injured in front of KCC Market at 7:30 pm.

The gunmen also exploded two bombs leaving one pedestrian wounded and left the spot by two motorbikes.

Jakir was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed at about 8:30 pm.

Police suspected that deed writers` internal conflict might have caused his killing.

KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque and KMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam visited the spot.
