Man injured by neighbours over land in Jessore dies

Benapole, May 22 (UNB) - A man, injured by his neighbours over land 17 days ago in Jessore succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday late night.

The dead is Haqer Ali, 55, of Hazra village of Chowgachha upazila of Jessore.

Police said Haqer had a long-standing dispute over a piece of land at the village with late Tara Chand.

In sequel to the dispute, Tara Chand’s son Abul Hossain, Rabiul Islam, Haider Ali and Shawkat Ali, equipped with lethal weapons, stormed into Haqer`s house and mercilessly beat the inmates, leaving Haqer and his two sons Asaduzzaman and Masud Rana seriously injured on May 4.

The injured were admitted to Chowgachha Hospital which referred Haqe to Jessore Sadar Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

A couple of days later Haqer was shifted to DMCH following further deterioration and he succumbed to his injuries on Monday late night.
