News - Two robbed of Tk 25.7 lakh in city
Dhaka, May 22 (UNB) – Armed muggers swooped on a businessman and his office staff in the city’s Bangshal area on Tuesday afternoon and took away Tk 25.70 lakh, leaving them injured with bullets.

The victims were identified as Md Rafique, 32, owner of ‘Badhan Metal’ and his manager Amir Hossain, 40.

Quoting the injured, hospital sources said Rafique and his manger drew Tk 25.70 lakh from Islami Bank’s Nababpur branch in the afternoon and then were heading towards their office at 14/2 Bangshal in a motorcycle with the money in a handbag.

As they reached near Tara Mosque at Armanitola around 3:30 pm, five to six muggers in two motorbikes intercepted them.

As Rafiq and his manager tried to resist them, the muggers fired gunshots indiscriminately and fled the scene with the money.

Rafique suffered bullet wounds in his right leg while his manager Amir in his left leg. They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
