Dhaka, May 22 (UNB) – BNP’s front ranking leader Tariqul Islam on Tuesday said democracy in the country has now been confined in jails and called for freeing the imprisoned democracy through movement.

Speaking as chief guest at a demonstration organized by Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal in front of Nayapaltan central office of BNP, he asked the Jubo Dal activities to take a vow that they will remain on the field now and also in the future fully dedicated to the movement.

Tariqul said: “The Constitution is also on the dock now as accused.”

Jubo Dal organized the rally demanding release of its former president Mirza Abbas, ex-general secretary Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and incumbent general secretary Saiful Alam Nirob and other top leader of BNP and its allies.

Presiding over the rally, Jubo Dal president Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal announced fresh programme of countrywide demonstration on May 24 and May 26 to press for the release of the arrested leaders.

As per the programme, demonstration will be held at thana and upazlia levels across the country on May 24 while at the district and divisional headquarters on May26.

BNP leaders Mizanur Rahman Minu, Barkatullah Bulu, M Shajahan and Habibur Rahman Habib, among others, also addressed the rally.
