Prof Muzaffar Ahmed passes away

Dhaka, May 22 (UNB) - Professor Muzaffar Ahmed, a prominent economist of the country and former chairman of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), passed away at city’s Lab Aid Hospital on Tuesday night. He was 79.

Family sources said Muzaffar Ahmed was admitted to the hospital around 11 pm after he complained of chest pain and he died there at about 11:40 pm.

Dr Muzaffar Ahmed, who was also a professor at the Institute of Business Administration of Dhaka University, received his PhD from the University of Chicago. He was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2008.

Professor Ahmed was also associated with ’Sujon", a civil society platform, which promotes good governance.
