JOHANNESBURG, MAY 22 (AP/UNB) - De Beers says a tunnel collapse has trapped at least seven people who were digging for diamonds illegally in northcentral South Africa.
The mining giant said in a statement Tuesday that one person was rescued and search teams were trying to find at least six others.
De Beers says people have been entering mine property illegally to dig "tunnels which have proven to be unsafe and have in fact cost the lives of illegal diggers in the past."
