Stocks extend losses

News - Stocks extend losses
Dhaka, May 23 (UNB) – Share prices at the country’s both bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed a moderate fall on Wednesday.

The DSE benchmark index, DGEN, shed 76.80 points or 1.56 percent to close at 4828.77 after day’s four-hour trading session. The bourse lost over 79 points or 1.62 percent till 11:35am.
 
Of the issues traded at the DSE, only 40 advanced, 207 suffered losses and 15 remained unchanged.
 
On the other hand, the CSE key index, CSCX, lost 162.70 points to close at 9147.34 though it shed over 145 points to stand at 9164 at 11:38am.
 
Of the issues traded by the time, only 16 gained, 160 declined and 5 remained unchanged.
 
On Tuesday, stocks at the twin bourse nosedived following the filing of a fresh writ petition with the High Court by an NCC Bank director against the SEC directive.    

The DSE benchmark index, DGEN, plunged by 117.37 points or 2.33 percent to close at 4905.57 while the port city bourse key index, CSCX, lost 185.30 points to close at 9310.05 on the day.
