5 dwelling houses gutted by fire in Bagerhat

Bagerhat, May 24 (UNB) – Five dwelling houses were damaged in a devastating fire at Nesarkhali village in Morelganj upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

Local people said the fire originated from electrical short circuit at the house of Amzad Ali Sardar of the village around 4pm and soon engulfed the adjacent four other houses.

On information, two firefighting units from Morelganj fire station rushed to the spot and doused the flame after one and half hours of frantic efforts with the help of local people.

The effected house owners, in preliminary estimate, put the loss from the fire at about Tk 25 lakh.
