Dhaka, May 24 (UNB) – Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has demanded the government make public the details of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) it signed with India’s Sahara Group on Wednesday to implement a housing project in the capital.
Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkhya (Rajuk) inked the MoU with Sahara Group to execute a residential project named `New Dhaka` around the capital to ease the accommodation problem of the city dwellers.
In a statement on Thursday, TIB executive director Iftekharuzzaman demanded that the full text of the MoU signed between Rajuk and Sahara along with all the decisions and information be published and transparency be followed in making any further step towards implementing the project.
He also demanded the government strictly follow the country’s existing law regarding the use of land and make sure that the relevant rules and laws are applied in singing any deal with a particular company on land use and erecting any structure or setting up any project anywhere in the country.
