News - 4 Hizbut Tahrir men held in Chapainawabganj

Rajshahi, May 25 (UNB) – Four activists, including a leader, of Hizbut Tahrir were arrested at Ranihati village in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj early Friday.

The arrestees were identified as Omar Farooq, 25, regional commander of  Hizbut Tahrir, members--Mehedi Hassan, 20, Monirul Islam, 33, and Tohurul Islam alias Babu, 31. They hailed from different areas of Chapainawabganj.

Huge leaflets and books were also recovered from their possessions during the raid at 1am.  

A team of RAB raided a house and held the activists of the banned Islamic outfit while they were holding a clandestine meeting.

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference at RAB Rajshahi office on Friday, RAB officials said that Farooq came to Chapainawabganj from Dhaka for attending the meeting.
