CCCI, Swiss Embassy to celebrate 40 yrs of Swiss–Bangla friendship

Chittagong, May 27 (UNB) - Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Embassy of Switzerland will jointly celebrate the 40 years of Swiss-Bangla friendship in October, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy Gabriele Derighetti said here on Sunday.

He said this at a meeting with the CCCI Board of Directors at the CCCI office, said a CCCI press release.  

CCCI president Murshed Murad Ibrahim, senior vice president Mahbubul Alam, directors Mahfuzul Hoque Shah, M Emdadul Hoque Chowdhury, Morshed Arif Chowdhury and Research and Communication Officer of the Swiss Embassy Khaled Chowdhury were present at the meeting.

Mentioning Switzerland as a very important socioeconomic development partner of Bangladesh, Murad Ibrahim sought technical assistance for Bangladesh’s small and medium enterprises.  

*He also sought more finance from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) for human resource development in Bangladesh.

The chamber president emphasised working together to utilise the prospects mutually and commented that establishing trade link between the entrepreneurs of both the countries is essential in this regard.

Gabriele Derighetti said Swiss entrepreneurs are showing interest in Bangladesh’s prospective sectors for investment.

He gave emphasis on product diversification along with infrastructure development referring to RMG which has occupied 90 percent of total import to Switzerland from Bangladesh.
