News - Bangladeshis among 106 detained in Malaysia

Dhaka, May 29 (UNB) - The Immigration Department of Malaysia rounded up 106 foreigners, including Bangladeshis, for various offences during a raid on Nilai 3 Shopping Centre in Malaysia on Monday.

The four-hour drive which started at 9.30am involving 196 Immigration officers from Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan was headed by Negeri Sembilan state director Faizal Fazri Othman.

Faizal Fazri said 450 foreigners, including 106 women, were screened during the operation, according to a Bernama report.

"Most of the foreigners were detained for invalid travel documents, overstaying, false documents and misusing social visit passes. The 106 who comprised foreigners from Pakistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Myanmar were aged between 18 and 40," he told reporters.

They were taken to Lenggeng Detention Centre.
