Dhaka, May 29 (UNB) –An all-round performance by Shuktara enabled Dhaka Mohammedan SC to retain the Women’s Club Cricket League title with all-win record as they beat Gulshan Youth Club by 52 runs in the final of the 4th version of the meet at BKSP ground-2 in Savar today (Tuesday).
Batting first after winning the toss, Mohammedan SC posted a moderate 158 runs for 8 wickets in stipulated 40 overs with opener Shuktara contributing 67 runs off 118 balls that featured eight fours and a six.
Besides, another opener Shaila Sharmin (19), lower order Fahima Khatun (17) and middle order Tazia Akhter (10) were the other notable scorers for the Mohammedans.
Skipper Lata Mondal grabbed two wickets for 22 runs while Yamin Rupa, Monija Khatun, Tithi Rani and Sanjida took one wicket apiece.
Chasing a target of 159 runs, Gulshan Youth Club were all out for 106 in 36.1 overs with two down Shahnaz Parveen making not out 36 off 83 balls that included two boundaries.
Besides, one down Reshma Akhter (15), Subarna (14), Sajida (12) and Puja Das (12) were the other major contributors for the Gulshan Youth Club.
Shuktara, who earlier scored match highest 67 runs, also grabbed four wickets for 14 runs in 6.1 overs to be adjudged the player of the match.
Gulshan Youth captain Lata Mondal, who guided Gulshan Youth Club in the final with her all round performances, was adjudged the player of the series.
Earlier, in Monday’s semifinals, Dhaka Mohammedan SC beat Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by two wickets at BKSP ground-2 while Gulshan Youth Club eliminated Azad Sporting Club by seven wickets also at BKSP ground in Savar.
