Pirate held with arms in Sundarbans

Satkhira, May 31 (UNB) - An alleged pirate was held along with two firearms and some cartridges in Mirgung area of Sundarbans under Satkhira range on Tuesday night.

The arrested was identified as Babul Gazi, 35, son of late Mander Gazi of Tengrakhali village in Shyamnagar upazila of the district.

Forest officials said a patrol team of the department raided the area at about 9pm and arrested Babul, also a former member of Border Guard Bangladesh. His other accomplices, however, managed to flee the scene.

Two home made guns and 10 cartridges were recovered from his possession.

A case was filed.
