News - Home Minister should quit forthwith: Moudud
Dhaka, June 1 (UNB) – Condemning the recent remarks of Home Minister Shahara Khatun on police performance, BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed on Friday demanded her immediate resignation.

“The Home Minister should resign right away,” Moudud told a human chain programme in front of the National Press Club.

On Wednesday, Shahara Khatun claimed that police are now ‘far better’ than any time before. Her remarks came in the wake of a series of attacks on journalists by police.

The BNP senior leader said, “At a time when the police are indulging in heinous incidents one after another, the Home Minister is claiming that her police force is now better than before. “We strongly condemn such remarks.”

Meanwhile, Awami League leader and minister without portfolio Suranjit Sengupta voiced deep concern over the recent attacks on journalists.

“The way police are attacking the journalists is unexpected….why such indiscipline, intolerance. Things were not supposed to be so. All should exercise restraint,” he told a function at the National Press Club.
