CAIRO, June 02 (AP/UNB) - Egypt's ex-President Hosni Mubarak is arriving in court to hear the verdict in his trial on charges of complicity in the killing of protesters during last year's uprising that forced him from power.

Mubarak is the first Arab leader to be tried by his own people. If convicted, he could face years in prison or the death penalty. He also faces corruption charges along with his two sons and a family friend who is on the run.

Thousands of riot police cordoned off the court on Saturday to prevent protesters and relatives of those slain during the uprising from reaching the heavily fortified building.

The 84-year-old Mubarak, lying on a hospital gurney, has been bought by helicopter for court sessions since the trial began 10 months ago in Cairo.
