Dhaka, June 3 (UNB) - Environment Minster Dr Hasan Mahmud has asked the brick kiln owners to make their brick fields green and environment-friendly by September this year or face tougher actions.

He came up with the warning at a press conference at his Secretariat office ahead of the World Environment Day.

The minister said the use of bricks in the country is on the rise amid its growing population. “So, the government has already imposed a ban on brick export.”

Hasan Mahmud said if the brick kiln owners use modern technology in baking bricks, their energy use will come down by half.
