Dhaka, June 3 (UNB) - BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday night sat in a meeting with her party leaders of Dhaka and adjoining districts to finalise the strategies and the preparations for the June 11 public meeting in the capital.
The meeting started at 9 pm at BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office with Khaleda Zia in the chair.
Presidents and general secretaries of BNP and its front and associate organisations of the city unit and Dhaka, Narayanganj, Munshiganj Manikganj, Gazipur and Narshingdi district units are present in the meeting.
The meeting is discussing the strategies and the preparations to make the June 11 rally in the capital a success, according to a source close to the meeting.
Khaleda Zia gave the government until June 10 to accept the opposition’s demand for restoring the non-party neutral government provision in the Constitution to hold the next general election under it.
She gave the ultimatum from a grand rally held in the capital on March 12 along with the announcement of the June 11 rally in the capital if their demand is not met by June 10.
A BNP standing committee member preferring anonymity told UNB that they are taking preparations for the June 11 rally and the next course of programme, as they did not get any meaningful response from the party in power.
The meeting was in progress till filing of the report at about 9:30 pm.
BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Tariqul Islam, MK Anwar and Nazrul Islam Khan were, among others, present at the meeting.
