Two siblings sentenced to life in prison in Panchagarh
Panchagarh, Jun 4 (UNB) - A court here on Sunday convicted two siblings and sentenced them to life imprisonment in a murder case.
The court also fined the convicts M Moslem Uddin, 50, and his brother M Taslim Uddin, 56, Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer four months RI more.
The convicts were present in the dock when the judge pronounced the verdict.
According to the prosecution, the convicts along with their accomplices beat Rajibul Islam, 40, son of late Askar Ali of Bodapara village on the night of September 12, 2009. Later, he succumbed to his injuries at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on September 18.
Victim’s nephew M Sahirul Islam had filed a case against six people in this connection.
Following investigation, police submitted the charge sheet in the case on October 27 in 2009.
After examining the records and witnesses, District and Sessions Judge M Mahbub-ul-Alam awarded the punishment acquitting four others as allegations brought against them were not proved.
