4 UCBL officials held for credit card fraudulence

Dhaka, June 4 (UNB) - Police arrested four officials of United Commercial Bank (UCBL) on Sunday night for their suspected involvement in credit card forgery.

The arrestees are: assistant vice president Nahidul Haq, 36, senior officer Maruf Haider, executive officer Jahid Hossain,38, and senior officer Shaidullah,32. They all are UCBL card division officers of Gulshan corporate branch.

Police said some card division officials informed the matter to the bank authorities suspecting their involvement in embezzlement of Tk 10 crore through credit card fraudulence.

After an internal investigation, the bank authorities handed the four officers over to police on Sunday night.

SI Mahbub Alam of Gulshan Police Station produced them before court on Monday seeking a 10-day remand for them.
