Benapole, June 6 (UNB) – A housewife was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband for dowry at Putkhali village here this (Wednesday) morning.

The victim was identified as Panna Khatun, 19, wife of Monir Hossain of the village.

Benapole Port thana OC Hasan Hafizur Rahman said Panna’s husband Manir and his family members used to torture her for dowry since long.

Quoting local people he said Monir picked up a quarrel with Panna over the issue early in the morning and at one stage he strangled her.  

Later, neighbours caught the killer husband and handed him over to police.

The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy. A case was filed.
