City house looted in broad daylight

Dhaka, June 6 (UNB) - Armed robbers looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth about Tk 4 lakh from a house in broad daylight in the city’s East Rampura area on Wednesday.

Quoting locals, police said two robbers stormed into the house of Jahangir Hossain, a travel agency employee, on the 3rd floor of a five-storey building at Bank Colony of East Rampura at about 2:00 pm.

The thugs took Jahangir’s wife Shammi Akhter and his 8-year-old son hostage at gunpoint and looted cash about Tk6000, six tolas of gold ornaments and other valuables and decamped with the booty, said sub-inspector Ibrahim Khalil of Rampura Police Station.

Senior police officer visited the spot. No case was filed till filing this report.
