Dhaka, June 6 (UNB) - BNP front-ranking leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed on Wednesday called for restoring Article 96 of the 1972 Constitution for making the judiciary accountable to parliament.

“It’ll enhance the sovereignty of parliament,” he said addressing a discussion at Jatiya Press Club.

The former Law Minister said the judiciary does not have supremacy over Parliament as per the constitution.

Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal organised the discussion marking the 31st death anniversary of President Ziaur Rahman.

Presided over by Mohila Dal president Noor-e-Ara Safa, the discussion was addressed, among others, by BNP vice chairman Selima Rahman and Mohila Dal general secretary Shirin Sultana.
