3 killed in Bogra road crashes

Bogra, June 08 (UNB) – At least two people were killed and 10 others injured as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch at Raroa in Sherpur upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Rostam Ali, 35, son of late Hasen Ali of Laldighi Fatepur in Pirganj upazila and Ekramul Haque, 28, son of Ashraful Islam of Dhumerkuri Pashchimpara of Kaunia upazila in Rangpur district.

Highway police and witnesses said a group of people got on a Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck in Rangpur in the morning.

The over-loaded truck plunged into the roadside ditch in the area at about 6:30am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving two people dead on the spot and 10 others injured.

The injured were admitted to Shahid Zia Medical College Hospital.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police seized the truck but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene.

A case was filed in this connection.

Meanwhile, an unidentified young man aged about 35 died after falling from roof of a Bogra-bound bus at Mirzapur Jamuna Para in Sherpur upazila at about 2am.
