Indian cattle trader shot dead by BSF on Putkhali border

Benapole, June 9 (UNB) - An Indian cattle trader was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Putkhali border here early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Joy Shikdar, 32, of Kalna Potapara village in Bangaon thana of North 24 Pargana district of West Bengal.

Putkhali Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) camp commander Humayun Kabir said while a group of Indian cattle traders were handing over some cattle to Bangladeshi cattle traders late at night BSF men of Angrail border camp chased them. At one stage they sprayed bullets on the fleeing traders leaving Joy Shikdar dead on the spot.

Other cattle traders managed to flee the scene.
