Housewife killed for dowry in Sirajganj
Sirajganj, June 10 (UNB) - A housewife was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband over dowry at Roynapara village in Belkuchi upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Jahanara Khatun, 25, wife of Matjul Islam of Dhulaura village in Chatmohor upazila of Pabna district. She was a mother of two children.
Police quoting family sources said Matjul put pressure on Jahanara for dowry since their marriage and used to live in his in-law’s house for long.
An altercation ensued between Matjul and Jahanara over the issue on Saturday night and at one stage Matjul strangled Jahanara to death.
Matjul managed to flee away after the incident.
Being informed police recovered the body of Jahanara on Sunday morning.
A case was filed.
