Thunderbolt kills 4; injures 3 in Satkhira, Nilphamari

Dhaka, June 10 (UNB) – Lightning strikes killed four people, including a couple and injured three others in Satkhira and Nilphamari districts on Sunday and Saturday evening.

In Satkhira: Thunderbolt killed Aktar Hossain, 40, and his wife Kohinoor Begum, 35, when they were working at the compound of their house at Norarchak village at Parulia union in Debhata upazila on Saturday evening.

In Nilphamari: Lightning strikes left two people killed and three others injured in Dimla and Jaldhaka upazilas on Sunday.
 
The dead are: Belal Hossain, 25, son of Ashraf Ali of Akashkuri village of Dimla and Sabitri Bala, 55, wife of Churkutu Barman of Kherkati village of Jaldhaka.

Locals said a thunderbolt struck Sabitri in the morning when she was working at her kitchen, leaving her dead on the spot. Belal died at the same time as he was struck by lightning while working at a field amid rain.

Besides, Ayub Ali, 45, of Goyabari village, Lipi Begum, wife of Shahidul Islam of Nichpara village and Habib, 4, son of Joymuddin of Satnai village in Dimla were injured in separate lightning strikes.
