
Dhaka, June 11 (UNB) - United Airways (BD) Ltd is set to procure four Jetstream aircraft by September this year, mainly to operate flights on unused small domestic routes, said an official on Monday.
Three of the four Jetstream aircraft will be 18-seater each and be used for scheduled services to smaller airports like Barisal, Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat, Iswardi, Shamshernagar, Comilla and Bagerhat.
The fourth one will be a 10-seater and be used for flying corporate executives between Dhaka and Chittagong and for exclusive charter service.
Officials of the airways, the first ever public limited company in aviation sector of Bangladesh, said Jetstream is a small twin-turboprop airline manufactured by British aerospace.
Jetstream aircraft is a safe, convenient and cost-effective charter solutions to the corporate and leisure markets, they said.
Jetstream aircraft has an absolute and uncompromising commitment to safety and holds the very highest certifications from all the relevant aviation authorities, the private airliner claimed.
United Airways that had started its operation on July 10, 2007 with 37 seated Dash 8-100, is now operating flights on more international routes from Dhaka to Jeddah, Dubai, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu and Kolkata.
It also operates flights from Chittagong to Muscat and will restart flying on Chittagong-Kolkata from 18 June.
The airline is operating flights to all major domestic sectors from Dhaka.Â
