50 injured in Sylhet clash

Sylhet, June 12 (UNB) - At least 50 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a trivial matter at Tajpur Bazar in Osmaninagar upazila on Monday night.

Police and witnesses said Fatik Mia of Dashhal village engaged in altercations with Abdur Rab of Matihani village over the falling of water from Rab’s beauty parlour at about 7pm.

Later, the supporters of two groups locked into a clash at Tajpur Bazar on Dhaka-Sylhet highway, leaving 50 people injured from the both sides.

At that time, the rival groups vandalized and looted 25 shops. Vehicles movement on the highway was disrupted for an hour.

On information, police appeared on the scene and charged baton and controlled the situation. The traffic movement also became normal.

Osmaninagar thana OC Al Amin said additional police have been deployed in the area to avert further clash. The injured were admitted to local hospital.
