Two killed, 30 injured in road crashes in Khulna, Sirajganj

Dhaka, June 12 (UNB) - Two people were killed and 30 others injured in separate road accidents in Khulna and Sirajganj districts on Monday.

In Khulna, a sports organiser was killed when a pick-up crashed into his motorcycle at Fultala on Khulna-Jessore highway in Sadar upazila in the morning.

The deceased was identified as Chowdhury Kamruzzaman Liton, 42, general secretary of Cosmos Club and son of late Chowdhury Abdul Noman of Raipara in the city.

Police and witnesses Liton, also a member of city unit of Jubo League, died on the spot after the pick-up slammed into his bike near Fultala Filling Station at about 11 am.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

In Sirajganj, an official of Abul Khair Group was killed and 30 people were injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Salanga upazila.

The deceased was Ruhul Amin, 35, an official of Abul Khair Group working in Gurudaspur.

Police said the bus of “Ovi Paribahan” skidded off the road and fell into the ditch at about 8:30 am after its driver lost control over the steering, killing Ruhul on the spot.

The injured were rushed to local health complex and different clinics.
