Fruit-bearing tree plantation fortnight begins Saturday

Dhaka, June 15 (UNB) – The fruit-bearing tree plantation fortnight and national fruit exhibition, begins across the country tomorrow (Saturday).

Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, the plantation fortnight will be held from June 16-30 highlighting the importance of planting fruit-bearing trees.

President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in their separate messages, wished the programme a success.    
 
In his message, Zillur said, “Fruit-bearing trees give us fruits, shade, materials for furniture and oxygen. Plantation of trees and their good care are essential for the existence of the human being and animals.”

The President made a fervent appeal to all to plant saplings of fruit-bearing trees in a greater number.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hoped that the country will abound with fruits with the combined efforts of all.
